Nebraska Ag Connection - 09/16/2019

U.S. Small Business Administration, announced that 24 awards were granted nationwide in FY2019 under the Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program. FAST's objective is to improve outcomes for underrepresented entrepreneurs in SBA's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs and increase participation for women-owned, rural-based, and socially and economically disadvantaged firms.

The Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) was one such awardee. NBDC is partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration and is one of 63 small business development centers located in the U.S. NBDC helps strengthen Nebraska businesses for a healthy economy and prosperous communities by providing confidential, impartial services and educational opportunities for established and start-up businesses, researchers, entrepreneurs and professionals.

Josh Nichol-Caddy, program director for NBDC states that "NBDC is excited for this opportunity to engage companies and entrepreneurs with innovative ideas, especially relating to agriculture, healthcare, and security as well as financial technology. NBDC seeks to leverage Nebraska's unique capabilities in these areas, helping entrepreneurs develop ideas into businesses and companies develop new business opportunities."

The Nebraska District Office is proud to partner with resources such as NBDC to empower Nebraska entrepreneurs and business owners with the resources and support needed to start, own and grow their businesses.
