New Employee at USDA Rural Development Team

USDA Rural Development announced a new member to the Nebraska Business and Cooperative Programs team, Christopher Faber. He is working in the Lincoln Office as a loan specialist.

Faber will provide support to stakeholders by assisting with funding solutions of direct loans, loan guarantees, and grants for Business and Cooperative programs including but not limited to:

- REAP, Rural Energy for America Program, grants to assist agricultural producers and rural small businesses to purchase renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvements to reduce energy costs and consumption.

- VAPG, Value-Added Producer Grants, to help agricultural producers enter into value-added activities related to processing and/or marketing of value-added products. Generating new products, creating and expanding marketing opportunities and increasing producer income. Stakeholders include independent producers, agricultural producer groups, farmer or ranch cooperatives or majority controlled producer-based business ventures, federally recognized Tribes or tribal entities that meet program requirements.

- RBDG, Rural Business Development Grants, to support targeted technical assistance, training and other activities leading to the development or expansion of small and emerging private businesses in rural areas. Assistance provided to public bodies, federally recognized Tribes, nonprofit entities, institutions of higher education and rural cooperatives.

Faber received his bachelor's degree in Agriculture Business in August 2019 from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. Faber's experience in agriculture, technical writing, and business are valuable assets he brings to assist customers in the state of Nebraska.
