Institute to Educate Tax Professionals Statewide
Nebraska Ag Connection - 11/15/2018

The 64th annual Nebraska Federal and State Income Tax Institute will deliver the latest, need-to-know information for tax professionals and advisers through programs in cities across the state.

Partnering with the Internal Revenue Service and Nebraska Department of Revenue, the institute will offer training on new laws and regulations in the tax industry during each two-day program.

"The 2018 tax year is going to see many changes and steps taken that will have an impact on 2018 and future returns," said Virginia Uzendoski, senior assistant director of programs and operations of the Tax Institute in the University of Nebraska--Lincoln College of Business. "This may be the most important year for federal tax education in your career."

Attended by more than 1,200 tax professionals each year, the institute covers a vast amount of information. This year's program features extensive changes due to the Tax Cut and Jobs Act, such as critical updates on tax legislation, IRS changes and court rulings. The program also delivers in-depth coverage of individual, business, agriculture, retirement and investment issues. All attendees receive comprehensive resource materials and ethics training.

"We have succeeded for 64 years because we provide Nebraska tax professionals the latest in-depth and up-to-date training on new tax laws and regulations," Uzendoski said. "The curriculum is updated annually."

The institute runs from 7 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. daily. Dates and locations remaining from the original schedule are:

Nov. 15-16: Fonner Park Convention Center, 700 E. Stolley Park Road, Grand Island

Nov. 26-27: Divots Conference Center and the Lodge, 4200 W. Norfolk Ave., Norfolk

Dec. 10-11: The Graduate, 141 N. Ninth St., Lincoln

Dec. 17-18: Scott Conference Center, 6450 Pine St., Omaha

The institute fulfills the continuing education requirements for certified public accountants, IRS enrolled agents, preparer tax identification number and Annual Filing Season Program holders, certified financial planners, attorneys, tax-return preparers, and officials with the Nebraska Department of Insurance and other licensing agencies.
