EAB Symposium: What Communities Can Do
Nebraska Ag Connection - 03/17/2017

With Nebraska communities facing widespread losses of street trees to emerald ash borer over the next decade or more, this symposium focuses on getting proactive for what lie ahead.

Topics span from "What to do once it's discovered," to "What to do with all the waste." The April 6 workshop offers input from cities that began dealing with loss from emerald ash borers 4-8 years ago, as well as information about treatment options and safety hazards. The April 7 workshop discusses opportunities for wood utilization--compost, mulch, biochar, building materials, etc.

The information is aimed at community leaders, public works employees, landscape managers, city foresters, tree boards, green industry professionals, natural resource district managers and extension specialists.

Registration is $30 per day or $50 for both days. Registration is free to any publicly elected official currently holding office in Nebraska (limit of 2 free registrations per community).
