40 Percent of Nebraska Oats in the Ground

For the week ending Sunday, there were 4.4 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 5% very short, 15% short, 74% adequate, and 6% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 9% very short, 24% short, 65% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Winter wheat condition rated 6% very poor, 13% poor, 38% fair, 41% good, and 2% excellent.

Oats planted was 40%, ahead of 30% last year and 33% for the five-year average. Emerged was 8%, near 4% last year and 5% average.
