Economic Development Dept. Hosting CDBG Application Workshops

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has announced the publication of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program application guidelines available the week of May 14, with two application workshops to occur later this month.

Designed to inform and assist eligible applicants who plan to seek CDBG funding during the 2018-2019 cycle, the workshops are open to the public. CDBG applications are due beginning in July.

Administered by DED, the federal CDBG program allots funding to help communities provide decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanded economic opportunities. The program's primary objective is to benefit low- and moderate-income persons.

Eligible CDBG program funding categories include:

- Comprehensive Development

- Downtown Revitalization

- Economic Development

- Owner Occupied Rehabilitation

- Planning

- Public Works

- Tourism Development

- Water/Wastewater

DED workshops are open to anyone, but only non-entitlement* communities and counties will be eligible to apply. Workshops occur on:

- May 22, 9:30 a.m.: State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln, Lower Level Conference Room A

- May 22, 9:30 a.m.: Online streaming of the Lincoln workshop via WebEx.

- May 24, 1:00 p.m.: Craft State Office Building, 200 South Silber, North Platte, Room 045
