USDA boosts clean energy and conservation
USAgNet - 09/21/2023
A year has passed since the President Inflation Reduction Act, and it's clear the USDA is making strides. Tom Vilsack shared that there's massive interest among rural communities in clean energy and conservation efforts. Thanks to the act, a whopping $20 billion over five years will boost the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Have you heard of the Environmental Quality Incentives Program? It's one of many programs that received more applications than it could handle. The goal of this program is to help our farmers adopt practices that store more carbon and tackle climate change. But that's not all.
There are also initiatives like the Urban and Community Forestry Program, aiming to bring more trees into our cities. This not only makes our neighborhoods greener but also helps us fight the heat and floods due to climate changes.
By August 2023, USDA has made $17 billion available. This means resources go straight to farmers and small businesses. From supporting student training in agriculture to assisting farmers with clean energy systems, the USDA is on fire!
