Champion Voice for Equipment Dealers

Champion Voice for Equipment Dealers

By Jamie Martin

Across the equipment dealer industry, strong advocacy helps ensure that agricultural businesses are heard at state and national levels. One leader was recently  honored by NAEDA for exceptional dedication to this work, earning recognition for decades of service that support dealers, farmers, and rural communities: Paul T. Combs.

This important award is given to a dealer who goes beyond daily business duties to engage directly with policymakers, share industry concerns, and promote fair legislation. This year’s recipient is known for outstanding efforts that have shaped meaningful policy outcomes and strengthened the voice of equipment dealers.

He leads a major family-owned dealership operating many locations across two states, giving him a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by farmers. His experience also includes overseeing farmland operations that produce important crops such as soybeans, corn, cotton, rice, and peanuts. He plays additional roles in related agribusiness operations and community banking.

His involvement in community service spans numerous organizations, including leadership positions in regional drainage districts, youth development programs, cultural institutions, and producer groups. His work on advisory boards for equipment manufacturers ensures that dealers’ needs guide product decisions.

At the national level, he has served on major agricultural and financial institutions, including two terms with the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. His work with USA Rice Farmers and the USA Rice Federation contributed to national policy development, and his expertise earned him invitations to speak before congressional and state committees.

He has been a strong advocate for policies that protect equipment dealers. His efforts helped prevent harmful legislation, support important tax provisions, and highlight the value of floor plan interest deductions and bonus depreciation. During recent advocacy efforts in Washington, he played a key role in securing meetings with influential lawmakers, helping ensure essential business priorities were included in final legislation.

“Paul T. Combs is a tremendous asset to NAEDA and to the entire equipment dealer industry,” said NAEDA leadership. “His dedication, influence, and tireless advocacy ensure that dealers’ voices are heard where it matters most.”

Alongside his professional work, he and his family contribute to medical research through a dedicated philanthropic fund, showing a commitment to community wellbeing.

This recognition celebrates a leader who continues to make a lasting difference in agriculture and the equipment dealer industry.
