The Clayton Yeutter Institute of International trade and Finance invites all students to attend Husker Trade Talks, a new career and policy discussion series kicking off Feb. 25.
Husker Trade Talks will feature free lunch (or breakfast!) and career insights and policy discussions with international trade experts at the top of their field.
"We encourage students from all majors to attend these sessions," said Yeutter Institute director Jill O'Donnell. "There are opportunities to connect a wide range of interests to a career in international trade, including business, agriculture, international development, technology, journalism, law and policy, supply chain management, and sustainability and gender equality."
Students will meet in person and experts will join virtually from Washington, D.C., Washington state, and places in between. Learn about internships, navigating the job market, networking, and whether graduate or law school is the right next step. Spring sessions are:
Feb. 25, 9 a.m. -- Can international trade advance sustainability goals? Featuring Katrin Kuhlmann, former U.S. trade negotiator, visiting professor at Georgetown University Law Center, president and founder of New Markets Lab, and senior associate with the Global Food Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
March 4, 11:30 a.m. -- How to learn about trade and get paid for it! Featuring Edward Alden, senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations specializing in U.S. economic competitiveness and trade, visiting professor at Western Washington University, columnist at Foreign Policy magazine, and author of the book Failure to Adjust: How Americans Got Left Behind in the Global Economy
April 1, 8 a.m. -- How trade policy is made: working on Capitol Hill. Featuring Ken Levinson, executive director of the Washington International Trade Association, former government affairs director, and former policy advisor in the U.S. Senate, working with international trade, foreign policy, national security, and tax policy.
All Husker Trade Talks will be held in Howard L. Hawks Hall (HLH) Room 111. Early RSVP is encouraged -- 20 spots are reserved each month.
