The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) unveils the Nebraska Ranch Management Program, aiming to prepare students for leadership roles in the state's crucial ranching industry.
Nebraska's beef production is a cornerstone of its economy, with livestock contributing over $6 billion annually. As one of the top states in beef production, Nebraska's ranching sector plays a pivotal role in the state's economy and cultural heritage, particularly in regions like the Nebraska Sandhills.
Recognizing the evolving landscape of the ranching industry, CASNR launches the Nebraska Ranch Management Program to equip future leaders with the diverse skillset needed to navigate challenges and drive innovation.
Dean Tiffany Heng-Moss emphasizes the importance of preparing the next generation of ranching leaders to uphold Nebraska's reputation as a global beef production leader.
Modeled after successful programs like the Krutsinger Beef Industry Scholars Program, the Nebraska Ranch Management Program offers students comprehensive education in animal and grassland systems, economics, and risk management.
Students will benefit from networking opportunities with industry leaders, hands-on learning experiences, and internships to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings.
Heng-Moss highlights the program's focus on collaboration with industry partners, providing students with exposure to innovative ranching practices and practical learning opportunities.
The program, available as an academic minor, welcomes students from all majors, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in preparing future ranching industry leaders.
