Crop Insurance Workshop Set in Nebraska

The Nebraska Extension and the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Nebraska will host the 2025 Crop Insurance Workshop for producers and agribusiness professionals from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, at the Heartland Events Center, 700 E. Stolley Park Rd., Grand Island.

This annual workshop offers valuable insights into farm policy, risk management, and financial planning. The event will cover updates on the farm bill, market outlook, and presentations on climate trends, trade and tariffs, farm finances, and the latest information from the USDA Risk Management Agency.

Speakers for the workshop include University of Nebraska–Lincoln agricultural economists Anastasia Meyer, Cory Walters, and Lia Nogueira; Flint Corliss of Nebraska Farm Business, Inc.; meteorologist Don Day Jr. of DayWeather, Inc.; and a representative from the Risk Management Agency.

The workshop is tailored for crop insurance agents, producers, lenders, commodity brokers, farm managers, consultants, grain merchandisers, and financial advisers who want to enhance their understanding of risk management tools and strategies.

“Crop insurance and related risk management tools remain critical to the financial resilience of Nebraska farms and ranches,” said Cory Walters, associate professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Nebraska. “This workshop provides the latest information producers, and their advisors need to make informed decisions.”

Registration is $110 per person if completed by October 30 and $130 after that date. A 50% refund is available for cancellations made at least five days before the workshop. Continuing education credits have been applied to Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota.

The event promises an informative and interactive day designed to equip participants with practical tools to manage risk and sustain long-term profitability across the agricultural landscape.
