Nebraska livestock producers, ranchers, and agricultural service providers are encouraged to participate in the Livestock Custom Rates Survey, which remains open through December 15, 2026. The survey collects information from individuals who either provide livestock-related services or hire others to perform them.
Conducted every two years by the Center for Agricultural Profitability at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the survey helps establish updated benchmarks for livestock custom work across the state. The results will be compiled into a report scheduled for release in early 2027.
The survey aims to gather livestock service rate information from a broad range of operations throughout Nebraska. These data help create regional and statewide averages that producers, lenders, and custom operators can use when evaluating service costs and market rates.
Participation is open to anyone involved in a livestock custom arrangement. All responses are confidential and anonymous, with only aggregated district and statewide results included in the final report.
The custom rates report serves as a valuable resource for Nebraska’s livestock industry. Producers and agricultural professionals use the information to compare pricing, estimate operating costs, and establish fair compensation for livestock-related services.
Nebraska Extension officials encourage participation from all regions of the state to improve the accuracy of the report. Because livestock service costs vary by location, broad participation helps ensure that the published benchmarks reflect current market conditions.
The survey will remain available through December 15, 2026, and the updated Nebraska Livestock Custom Rates Report is expected to be published in early 2027.
