Nebraska Potato Production Up 1 Percent



Final production for the 2021 potato crop totaled 9.26 million cwt, up 1% from 2020, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Planted acres for 2021 totaled 19,000, unchanged from 2020. Harvested area, at 18,900 acres, was up 1% from the previous year. Yield for all potatoes averaged 490 cwt in 2021, unchanged from the 2020 average yield.

The value of potatoes sold from the 2021 crop totaled $98.3 million, up 7% from 2020. The marketing year average price was $11.80 per cwt, up from $11.20 for the 2020 crop.

Potatoes sold from the 2021 crop totaled 8.34 million cwt, up 2% from 2020. Sales accounted for 90% of production, up 1% from the 2020 crop.
