Nebraska soybean growers have an opportunity to learn about the latest production practices during the annual Nebraska Extension Soybean Management Field Days, taking place Aug. 11, 2026, through Aug. 14, 2026, The educational event continues its long tradition of providing practical information on soybean production, crop management, and marketing while helping growers improve their farming decisions.
Andy Chvatal, NSB executive director, said, “Our goal is to give growers real value they can take home and use. By highlighting programs like TAPS, we’re helping producers evaluate new ideas and learn directly from the results. In addition to TAPS, the field days also focus on timely topics that matter most to growers.”
One of the main attractions is the Testing Ag Performance Solutions (TAPS) soybean competition, which is being featured for the third consecutive year. Participants will receive updates on lessons learned from last year's competition and progress from the current season.
The event focuses on sharing practical production strategies, encouraging discussions among growers, and highlighting research, education, and marketing efforts supported by the Nebraska Soybean Board.
The event offers both evening and daytime programs. Evening meetings will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, at the West Central Research, Extension and Education Center (WCREEC), North Platte; Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, at the Herbig Brothers farm, Central City; and Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at the Mike Gropp farm, Crete. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by programs from 6–8 p.m.
The final session takes place Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center (ENREEC), near Mead. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with the program running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The morning field day includes a Soybean TAPS update, IPM recommendations, avoiding farm financial mistakes, and a tour of competition plots.
Topics throughout the week include weed control, irrigation, fertility, insect and disease management, iron chlorosis, soybean gall midge research, and financial management. Attendees can also meet representatives from the Nebraska Soybean Board and the Nebraska Soybean Association.
The events are free to attend with support from NSB. Organizers ask participants to pre-register at least two days before each field day using the online registration form or by calling 402-624-8030.
