WNCC, Nebraska Manufacturing Offer Operational Excellence Workshops

Western Nebraska Community College and the Nebraska Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) are hosting a series of workshops designed to help manufacturers, food and ag processors, and organizations who serve them improve their operations through best practices in management, decision making, and process improvement.

The series includes three topics: Job Relations, Lean 101, and Problem Solving. All three workshops will be held in both Scottsbluff and Bridgeport, so attendees have their choice of locations.

"We're excited to work with WNCC to bring these popular courses to Panhandle manufacturers and food and ag processors, " said Joe Roy, of Nebraska MEP. "Anyone who works in an operations capacity can benefit from best practices in problem solving, job relations, and process improvements so we encourage line workers, supervisors, and even the businesses who serve these industries to attend the training."

The Scottsbluff workshops will be held at the John N. Harms Center, on WNCC's Scottsbluff Campus. The workshops in Bridgeport will be held at the Prairie Winds Community Center.

"Offering classes in Bridgeport is more convenient for people in Alliance, Sidney, Oshkosh and the surrounding areas so we hope they are able to take advantage," Doug Mader, Director of Workforce Training at WNCC added. "Although the classes are manufacturing and processing based, the concepts apply to anyone who needs to better understand their daily operations and identify improvements."

Tuition is $250.00 per workshop and the workshops are from 9:30 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m. For exact dates of each workshop and for more information, visit wncc.edu/events. The first workshop, Job Relations, is March 17 in Scottsbluff and March 18 in Bridgeport. The deadline to register for the first workshop is Thursday, March 10. To register for any of the three workshops, call 308.635.6701.

Based at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Nebraska MEP provides education and technical assistance to manufacturing businesses across the state. Nebraska MEP works one-on-one with small- and medium-sized manufacturers to help them remain competitive and in the process increase sales, grow profits, and create and retain jobs. Nebraska MEP has a network of business advisers, technical experts and trainers within the University of Nebraska, the Nebraska Community College System, and outside consultants to assemble a skilled team capable of meeting your individual needs.
