This April 4-H invites youth aged 8 and up to dive into the world of poultry through a fun and educational workshop series. Each week, participants will explore different facets of poultry care and management, guided by experienced educators and volunteers.
The series kicks off on April 4 with a session on "Exploring Embryology" led by Madelaine Polk, a dedicated 4-H Extension Assistant. The following weeks will cover "Showmanship & Preparing for Shows" with Brett Kreifels, waterfowl care with Cole Meador, and how to embark on a journey as a "4-H Poultry Entrepreneur" with Crystal Powers, an experienced parent volunteer.
Workshops are scheduled for April 4, 11, 18, and 25—each Thursday from 6-7 p.m., held at the Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County conference rooms. A nominal fee of $5 covers attendance for all sessions, with proceeds supporting poultry program initiatives.
Space is limited, so interested parties are encouraged to register by March 29. Questions can be directed to Madelaine Polk at mpolk2@unl.edu or 402-441-7180. Payment can be made via cash or check to Lancaster County Livestock Boosters on the first day.
Don't miss this chance to enhance your poultry knowledge and skills, while connecting with fellow 4-H members passionate about agriculture and animal care.
