Green and Gold Movie Spurs $100K Donation to Farm Organizations

By Jamie Martin

A heartwarming film about a Wisconsin dairy farmer’s gamble on his beloved Green Bay Packers has turned into a major win for agriculture.

Thanks to the success of Green and Gold, three farm-focused organizations are sharing a $100,000 donation from Culver’s, the fast food chain known for its agricultural roots and support. The donation comes through Culver’s Thank You Farmers Project, which pledged $1 for every digital rental or purchase of the film.

Released on Jan. 31, 2025, and available on streaming platforms since April, Green and Gold has surpassed 100,000 views as of Sept. 16.

The funds will be split between:

  • Farmer Angel Network, which supports mental health and community resilience in rural areas.
  • Farm Family Wellness Alliance, offering wellness resources to farm families.
  • National FFA, a youth organization dedicated to agricultural education and leadership.

“It’s such an honor for us to give back to our guests,” said Alison Demmer, Culver’s senior public relations manager. “When the Green and Gold team came to us and talked about the film, it naturally sounded like something we’d want to be a part of.”

Set in rural Wisconsin, the movie follows Buck, a fourth-generation dairy farmer played by Craig T. Nelson (Coach), who faces foreclosure. With his granddaughter choosing music over farming and his financial future uncertain, Buck makes a bold wager with his mortgage lender: if the Packers win the Super Bowl, he gets one more year on his loan, interest-free. If not, he loses everything.

The film blends themes of perseverance, community, and rural identity with Wisconsin’s deep football culture. “Green and Gold honors the hardworking farmers of America, the struggles they go through and how you need a community around you to move forward,” Demmer said. “And then when you add the Green Bay Packers, it’s just so Wisconsin.”

Currently holding a 67% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has received mixed reviews from critics but strong support from viewers in agricultural communities.

Green and Gold is available for streaming on YouTube, Apple TV, and Google Play.
