Nebraska Ag Outlook Meeting Announced

Nebraska Ag Outlook Meeting Announced

By Scout Nelson

The Center for Agricultural Profitability at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will host the Cornhusker Economics: Ag Outlook meeting on December 5, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. MST at the Panhandle Research and Extension Center in Scottsbluff. The meeting is open to the public and aims to help agricultural professionals understand changing economic conditions in agriculture.

With continued uncertainty in agricultural markets, finances, and policy, this program will provide valuable updates for producers, agribusiness professionals, and others connected to the industry. Specialists from the University of Nebraska’s Department of Agricultural Economics and Nebraska Farm Business, Inc. will share current information on crop and livestock markets, ag policy, and financial trends. Their presentations will offer practical guidance to support risk management decisions and long-term planning.

The meeting will also include a detailed discussion of tax updates related to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and how these changes may affect agricultural operations during the 2025 tax year.

Presenters will review historical financial data, explore future trends, and explain important considerations for upcoming farm program decisions, including Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC).

Speakers will include commodity marketing specialists, tax professionals, agricultural economists, and policy experts. These presenters will help participants evaluate their financial position and understand how economic and policy shifts may influence daily operations.

“Nebraska agriculture is facing a mix of opportunity and uncertainty,” said Jessica Groskopf, an extension agricultural economist at Nebraska. “With a new farm bill in development, it’s an important time to assess where markets, policy and financial conditions are headed and how they fit into each operation.”

The event is free to attend, and refreshments will be provided by Farm Credit Services of America. Registration is requested by December 3 through the Center for Agricultural Profitability’s website or by calling the Panhandle Research and Extension Center at 308-632-1230. Funding for the program is provided by the North Central Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Center.
