Navigating farmland inheritance - workshop in Beatrice

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Center for Agricultural Profitability is hosting a workshop titled "So You’ve Inherited a Farm … Now What?" This event is dedicated to individuals involved in farmland succession, offering insights into the best practices for managing this valuable asset. The workshop will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on December 13, at the Nebraska Extension office in Gage County, located in Beatrice, NE.

This informative session aims to address various aspects of land industry in Nebraska, particularly farms and ranches. Key topics include current trends in land values and cash rents, strategies for successful land transitions, lease provisions, and legal considerations. The workshop will delve into managing family communication and expectations, a crucial aspect of land succession.

Jim Jansen, an agricultural economist with Nebraska Extension, emphasizes the unique dynamics of each farm or ranch operation's succession and the importance of effective management strategies for a smooth transition.

Attendance is free, and lunch will be provided courtesy of Farm Credit Services of America. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by December 12 by contacting Nebraska Extension in Gage County.
