The Nebraska Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program will offer a certification and recertification opportunity for beef producers and transporters on Wednesday, May 7, at 4 p.m. The event will take place at the Alliance Knight Museum in Alliance, Nebraska.
The training will cover both BQA and BQA Transportation (BQAT) certifications. These programs are designed to educate beef producers and transporters on best management practices, animal health, stockmanship, and animal welfare guidelines. Such training ensures that livestock is raised responsibly and handled with care, aligning with consumer expectations and industry standards.
The certification cost is $20 per person. However, operations that bring five or more participants can register for a flat rate of $100. This makes it easier for families or groups from the same farm to attend and benefit together.
Participants are required to register in advance, either online at bqa.unl.edu or by calling the Panhandle Research and Extension Center at 308-632-1230. An active email address is necessary, as certificates will be delivered electronically after completion of the course.
This session is important for anyone involved in the beef supply chain, especially those who handle or transport animals. Being certified not only improves animal care but also adds value to the operation by proving commitment to quality standards.
For more information or questions, interested individuals can contact Nebraska BQA at nebraskabqa@unl.edu or call 308-633-0158.
Programs like this play a vital role in helping beef producers maintain high standards and continue improving their operations responsibly and sustainably.
