Nebraska's late November crop and soil update 2023

During the week ending November 26, 2023, Nebraska experienced 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. The state's agricultural conditions showed a range of moisture levels and crop statuses.

Topsoil moisture supplies were varied, with 21% rated very short, 26% short, 50% adequate, and 3% surplus. Subsoil moisture also displayed a broad spectrum, with 26% very short, 37% short, 34% adequate, and 3% surplus.

In the Field Crops Report, winter wheat conditions were promising, with 40% rated good and 9% excellent. However, 3% of the wheat was rated very poor, and 11% poor. This indicates a diverse range of conditions affecting the wheat crops.

The Pasture and Range Report showed that pasture and range conditions were similarly varied. The conditions were rated 12% very poor, 16% poor, 34% fair, 28% good, and 10% excellent.
