Nebraska Cattlemen Awards 18 Area Students Over $18,000 in Scholarships


On Wednesday, April 26, the Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation (NCF) announced the awarding of over $64,000 in scholarships to help the next generation of the agriculture industry in their academic pursuits. The scholarships were awarded to fifty-nine distinguished students.

Just over $18,000 of the scholarship money went to 18 students from the KCNI/KBBN listening area.

One thousand dollar Retail Value Steer Challenge Scholarships went to Ansley’s Emily Jonas, Brewster’s Emily Martindale, Broken Bow’s Jack Myers, Cozad’s Sarah Treffer, Gothenburg’s Helene Keiser, Loup City’s Sadie Ference, Merna’s Sid Miller, Overton’s Spencer Walahoski, Ravenna’s Jaylea Pope, Lexington’s Jacie Woflinger and Stapleton’s Lance Jones and Clay Witthun.

Litchfield’s Landri Loos was awarded the $1,200 West Central Affiliate Scholarship, and Gothenburg’s Heath Keiser received the $1,200 Vance Uden Memorial Scholarship. Dalton Kunkee of Lexington was awarded the $1,200 Donavan Yoachim Memorial Scholarship.

The $1,200 West Central/Trotter Inc. Scholarship went to Callaway’s Silas Cool, and Gregory Treffer of Cozad was awarded the $1,200 Ron & Shirley Huss Scholarship. Kacey Dethlefs of Ravenna received the $1,200 Bill Briggs Family Memorial Scholarship.
