Nebraska Extension will host a free educational event on July 24 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Holiday Inn in Kearney, Nebraska. The program will also be available online through Zoom and livestreamed on the @ScoutNebraska YouTube Channel.
The event is geared toward producers, crop consultants and agricultural professionals seeking updates on crop diseases and seasonal weather conditions. Corn diseases such as tar spot, bacterial leaf streak, Goss’s wilt and leaf blight have already been detected in Nebraska, while white mold in soybeans and southern rust in corn could emerge later in the season.
Nebraska Extension specialists Tamra Jackson-Ziems and Dylan Mangel, along with Extension educators Eric Hunt and Talon Mues, will discuss disease trends, weather outlooks and management strategies during grain fill. Topics will include disease identification, fungicide management, weather forecasting and tools used to monitor and communicate disease-related information.
The event is free to attend. Those planning to participate in person can register by calling 402-719-2699 and will receive a complimentary lunch. Online participants may join via Zoom at https://unl.zoom.us/j/95647866028.
