St. Joe Readies to Host Great Plains Growers Conference

The 2023 Great Plains Growers Conference is Jan. 13-14 at Missouri Western University in St. Joseph.

“This is a great local conference for fruit and vegetable producers from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and other Midwestern states to hear research-based information from research specialists and local growers,” says University of Missouri Extension horticulturist Justin Keay.

The conference includes classes on business development and marketing, tree fruits, small fruits, vegetable production, integrated pest management, organic production, greenhouse/hydroponics, high tunnels and cut-flower production. Farmers also will give presentations on farm-based research projects.

“This something-for-everyone conference is great resource for aspiring farmers to seasoned growers,” says Keay. “Farmers and university researchers from across the Midwest will share their knowledge on topics such as marketing, building a business plan, starting a new crop and managing pests,” says Keay.
