Trade Mission Promotes U.S. Farm Exports and Partnerships

Trade Mission Promotes U.S. Farm Exports and Partnerships

By Jamie Martin

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will lead a trade mission to Taipei, Taiwan, from September 29 to October 1 to expand U.S. agricultural exports and strengthen business ties.

Thirty-nine agribusinesses, trade groups, and representatives from the Idaho, Kansas, and Montana agriculture departments will join USDA Under Secretary Luke J. Lindberg. “With strong economic growth and proven demand for high-quality U.S. food in Taiwan, now is the time for U.S. agribusinesses to expand their presence,” said USDA’s Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Luke J. Lindberg. “This trade mission will connect U.S. exporters with key buyers and help them forge partnerships to tap into this dynamic market.”

Taiwan stands as the eighth largest market for U.S. farm exports and remains the nation’s top agricultural supplier. In 2024, U.S. exports to Taiwan reached $3.8 billion, with a $3.1 billion surplus. Over half of these sales came from high-value items like fresh fruits, pet food, beef, poultry, and dairy. U.S. products such as soybeans, corn, wheat, seafood, tree nuts, and pork also show strong growth potential.

The mission includes business-to-business meetings, market briefings, and site visits hosted by USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service to help U.S. exporters understand market trends and secure new trade partnerships.

This effort supports USDA’s 2025 export promotion strategy. Previous trade missions to Hong Kong, Thailand, Peru, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic have already generated $64 million in expected sales. Upcoming trade missions include Mexico in November and Indonesia in early 2026, reinforcing USDA’s global commitment to helping American farmers and agribusinesses reach new markets.
