WNCC to Host 5th Annual SWAP Event
Nebraska Ag Connection - 09/12/2018

Western Nebraska Community College's Military & Veterans Affairs Office will be holding its fifth annual Service Women Attaining Power (SWAP) program for all women who have served or are serving in our nation's military.

The SWAP event will be held on Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John. N. Harms Center. Admission is free, though there will be an optional $10 sip and paint in conjunction with the event.

"We're thrilled to bring our area female veterans and active-serving women together for a day of camaraderie and networking for the fifth straight year," said Chris Wolf, WNCC Military & Veterans Affairs director.

This year, Sandra Horsman, the director of the VA Black Hills Health Care System, will be the keynote speaker. Horsman is an air force veteran and will be speaking about her military experience and path to becoming the director of the VA Black Hills Health Care System.

"It's quite an honor for her to come and visit with us," Wolf said. "I've heard wonderful things about her, so we're really excited."

Additionally, a paint-and-sip will held and led by Stacey Bolin, a veteran who has used painting to deal with issues related to her military service, Wolf said.

"With this you just relax and have fun," Wolf said. "Different people have different ways of relieving their anxiety and letting their minds move in a different direction and painting was Stacey's way. She is a remarkable woman and I'm so happy to have her part of our program."

Those interested in attending the SWAP event are asked to register in advance by contacting Chris Wolf at 308-635-6042.
