$239 Million boost for U.S. biofuels access

$239 Million boost for U.S. biofuels access

By Jamie Martin

The Administration, under its Investing in America agenda, has announced a significant $239 million investment to bolster the availability of clean, affordable biofuels across 18 states. This initiative, supported by the Inflation Reduction Act, aims to enhance U.S. energy independence and provide economic benefits to rural areas.

Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Xochitl Torres Small revealed that $39 million in grants would help U.S. business owners increase domestic biofuels availability, with an additional $200 million earmarked for the new Biobased Market Access and Development Grants.

This funding will facilitate infrastructure improvements like fuel pumps, dispensers, and storage tanks at various locations, including Connor’s Service Station in Wisconsin and Fleet Fueling in Michigan, significantly boosting biofuel sales.

The investment is part of a broader effort to support rural agricultural producers and small businesses by expanding clean energy resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

With prior investments totaling over $253 million under the Administration, the USDA continues to champion the transition to a more sustainable energy future.

This funding not only underscores the administration's commitment to combating climate change but also to enhancing the economic prospects of America's rural communities through innovative energy solutions.
