$307 Million boost for Nebraska's climate action from EPA

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has selected the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) to receive a substantial $307 million grant.

This funding is a pivotal part of President’s Investing in America initiative, intended to propel states towards significant climate pollution reduction and support sustainable development.

The grant will help Nebraska implement diverse projects focused on modernizing agriculture and increasing energy efficiency across various sectors.

Notably, the initiatives include promoting climate-smart farming practices, minimizing agricultural waste, and deploying renewable energy solutions such as solar panels and electrified irrigation systems to enhance productivity and sustainability.

These efforts are set to transform both rural and urban areas of Nebraska by providing state-of-the-art solutions that decrease reliance on traditional energy sources, reduce carbon emissions, and improve overall air quality.

Additionally, the investment aims to advance environmental justice by ensuring that economic and health benefits reach all communities, particularly those previously marginalized or heavily impacted by pollution.
