FAA drone certification course in Nebraska

FAA drone certification course in Nebraska

By Scout Nelson

The Nebraska Extension is bringing back its popular Part 107 Remote Pilot Exam Prep Course in 2025. Offered at various locations across Nebraska from January through April, this course provides an invaluable educational opportunity for professionals seeking to include drone operations in their career or work duties.

Geared towards those aiming for commercial or public applications, the course covers fields such as emergency management, law enforcement, real estate, land management, and agriculture. Nebraska Extension educator Dr. Dirk Charlson, with over a decade of drone operation experience, emphasizes that this course is ideal for serious professionals, not hobbyists.

This one-day, eight-hour session prepares participants to pass the FAA Aeronautical Knowledge Exam required to earn the Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, commonly known as a drone license. The course includes study materials, presentation notes, and lunch. While it does not focus on spray drone regulations, participants will gain essential knowledge to advance their drone pilot careers.

The registration fee for the course is $275, with discounts available for eligible students and educators. Online pre-registration is required. Interested individuals can contact Dr. Charlson at (402) 460-0742 for additional details.

For those unable to attend the winter-spring sessions, Nebraska Extension is planning to offer the course at 10 locations during the summer and early fall. Subscribe to CropWatch for future updates.

Winter-Spring 2025 Locations Include:

  • Scottsbluff, North Platte, Fremont, and Beatrice in January
  • Grand Island, Kearney, and Hastings in February
  • Auburn, Lexington, and Columbus in March and April

Nebraska Extension’s drone prep course is an excellent opportunity to step into the future of drone operations with the confidence to pass the FAA Part 107 exam and meet professional goals.
