All members of the Nebraska congressional delegation have been honored with the “Friend of Farm Bureau” award from the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) for their service during the 118th Congress.
The award is presented at the end of each congressional term, based on lawmakers' voting records on key Farm Bureau issues.
In 2024, these issues included protecting animal agriculture from activist groups, supporting the new Farm Bill, advocating for federal risk management programs, and promoting agricultural market expansion, among others. Nebraska Farm Bureau nominated the state’s delegation for the award.
“We are very fortunate to have elected leaders working in Washington, D.C. who recognize and value the significant impact of agriculture in our state. Their commitment to advocating for policies that benefit Nebraska’s farm and ranch families deserves recognition. We are proud to have the American Farm Bureau recognize all five members of our state’s congressional delegation for their leadership and service,” said Mark McHargue, Nebraska Farm Bureau president.
Senators Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts, along with Representatives Mike Flood (R-Dist.1), Don Bacon (R-Dist.2), and Adrian Smith (R-Dist.3), received the prestigious award.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the members of the delegation on initiatives that will grow opportunities for Nebraska agriculture. History has consistently shown, when farm and ranch families and the agricultural economy do well, the people and state of Nebraska do well,” said McHargue.
The Nebraska Farm Bureau, with over 55,000 members, is dedicated to supporting farm and ranch families and ensuring rural and urban prosperity through advocacy, education, and service.
