Nebraska hosts 2023 cover crop grazing conference

By Scout Nelson

Calling all Nebraska beef producers and corn growers! Get ready to step up your farming game by joining the 2023 Cover Crop Grazing Conference. This not-to-be-missed event is happening on Tuesday, November 7, at a place called the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center, right near Mead, Nebraska.

The day starts bright and early at 8:30 a.m. with some refreshments and a chance to check out the trade show in the August N. Christenson Building. From 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., you'll get to soak up all sorts of smart ideas during educational programs, which even include real-life field demonstrations and a chat session with producers just like you.

Nebraska Extension, known for its super helpful, science-based info for farmers, is the one bringing this conference to you. This year, they're all about teaching ways to grow and use cover crops for grazing. Two big-deal experts, Dr. Bart Lardner from the University of Saskatchewan and Dr. Mary Drewnoski from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will be there to share their knowledge.

Whether you're just starting out or you've been farming for years, this event is perfect for anyone wanting to get better at using cover crops. You'll hear from speakers and panelists who know all about the big issues for Nebraska's farmers and ranchers. Plus, you can talk directly with local folks from private companies who'll be exhibiting and sponsoring the event.

Don't forget, you need to pre-register online
There's a $20 fee for joining the conference, but it gets you lunch and snacks all day. You can pay with cash or a check when you get there or send a check ahead of time to this address: 2023 Cover Crop Grazing Conference, Nebraska Extension, 1071 County Rd. G, Ithaca, NE 68033. Just make your check out to University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
