The United States Department of Agriculture has issued a recall for certain grass-fed ground beef products after routine safety testing detected possible E coli contamination. The recall is part of ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure food safety standards are maintained.
The affected beef products were produced in December 2025 and distributed to multiple states for retail sale. The recalled items include vacuum sealed one-pound packages that carry a specific establishment number on the packaging. These identifiers help consumers recognize the products involved in the recall.
Although no confirmed illnesses have been reported, consumers are strongly advised not to consume the recalled beef. Any packages believed to be affected should be returned to the place of purchase or disposed of safely.
E coli is a harmful bacteria that can cause stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. Some cases can become severe, especially for young children, seniors, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Health experts recommend seeking medical attention if symptoms appear after eating beef products.
USDA officials are working with distributors and retailers to ensure the recalled beef is removed from store shelves. Recall checks are being conducted to confirm that all affected products are properly accounted for and no longer available for sale.
Food safety experts remind consumers that proper cooking is essential for preventing illness. Ground beef should always be cooked until it reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit. A food thermometer should be used to verify safe cooking temperatures.
This recall serves as an important reminder about the value of food inspection programs. Routine testing helps identify risks early and allows agencies to take quick action to protect public health and ensure a safe food supply.
