MIT Water Food Agriculture Grant Program

MIT Water Food Agriculture Grant Program

By Jamie Martin

The MIT Water Club and MIT Food & Agriculture Club are now accepting applications for their annual Water, Food & Agriculture Innovation Prize. This program supports early-stage, student-led startups that are building solutions for water, food, and agricultural sustainability.

MIT Water connects researchers, students, and innovators to solve major water challenges through research, events, and entrepreneurship programs. The MIT Food & Agriculture Club works closely with MIT Water to guide student founders and provide funding for new business ideas in farming and food systems.

Each year, the Innovation Prize awards more than fifty thousand dollars in grants to promising student teams across the United States. Since the program began in 2015, it has provided funding to thirty winning teams.

To qualify, at least one member of the startup team must be a U.S.-based student. The startup must also have received less than one hundred thousand dollars in funding before applying.

Selected participants will take part in mentoring sessions and business planning activities. Teams must prepare a business plan and present their idea during the Final Pitch Night. At least one student representative must be present to share the project with judges.

Winning teams can receive innovation grants of up to fifty thousand dollars. This funding helps students move their ideas from research into real-world solutions that benefit farms, communities, and the environment.

The application deadline is December thirty-first, two thousand twenty-five. Student entrepreneurs interested in building sustainable agriculture, food, and water solutions are encouraged to apply and join this national innovation program.
