4-H Livestock Meeting Shares Fair Season Tips

By Scout Nelson

A livestock identification meeting takes place on April 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Central time in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. The event will be held at the Fergus Falls YMCA and is organized to help youth and families prepare for the upcoming fair season.

This meeting focuses on sharing important updates in animal science and providing useful information for livestock exhibitors. Participants learn about current requirements, project expectations, and best practices for managing livestock projects. The event also gives attendees the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance from experienced educators.

The meeting is open to both new and experienced 4-H livestock exhibitors and their families. It helps participants better understand the livestock identification process and offers support for those who are new to the program. Families can also purchase the ID tags needed for the 2026 fair season during the event.

In addition to practical information, the meeting provides access to valuable resources that support learning and project success. These resources help youth improve their skills and gain confidence in managing their livestock projects. The session also encourages communication between families and educators, making it easier to navigate the animal science program.

The event is free of charge, making it accessible to all interested participants. The event will be delivered in English, and interpreter services may be available if requested in advance. Organizers also ensure equal access by offering accommodations for individuals with disabilities when requested ahead of time.

For more information about the event, contact Extension Educator Jessica Mohagen, mohag150@umn.edu, 218-998-8760 or Rachel Wahlstrom, joh12246@umn.edu, 218-998-8760.

This livestock identification meeting offers a helpful and practical way for 4-H members and their families to prepare for a successful and organized fair season.
