Agriculture Trade Talks at Symposium

Agriculture Trade Talks at Symposium

By Scout Nelson

An important agricultural trade symposium is scheduled to take place on April 21, bringing together experts to discuss global trade issues and future policy directions. The event is organized by the Clayton Yeutter Institute of International Trade and Finance and will feature multiple panel discussions on agriculture and trade-related topics.

The symposium will begin with keynote remarks from Julie Callahan, Chief Agricultural Negotiator for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. She will present virtually on the topic, “An Update on Agricultural Trade Priorities,” offering insights into current strategies and future goals in agricultural trade.

Callahan brings extensive experience in agricultural policy and trade negotiations. She has worked in senior roles at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative for nearly a decade. Her previous experience also includes leadership positions at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, where she focused on international programs and policy coordination.

The fifth biennial CME Group Foundation Symposium will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Nebraska East Union’s Great Plains Room. The theme of this year’s event is “Toward a New International Trading System.” The symposium is free and open to the public, and attendees will be provided for lunch.

Participants may attend the event in person by registering online or may join virtually through a livestream. The livestream will be available on the website.

In addition to the keynote address, the event will include discussions on key trade topics, including agriculture, policy development, and international cooperation. These sessions are designed to provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in global trade.

The Yeutter Institute honors Clayton Yeutter, a former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and U.S. Trade Representative. His legacy continues to inspire discussions on trade and agricultural policy.

Overall, the symposium offers a valuable platform for learning about agricultural trade and its impact on global markets and economic growth.
