The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is set to host the Emerging Tech Conference on March 7, 2025, at Howard L. Hawks Hall, bringing together business professionals, engineers, faculty, and students to discuss advancements in artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and their societal impact.
Sponsored by the Harris Family and GlaxoSmithKline, the conference will feature insightful discussions, expert panels, and networking opportunities. Attendees can learn from industry pioneers while exploring next-generation digital systems and AI transformation strategies.
“Noelle Russell, founder and chief artificial intelligence officer of the AI Leadership Institute, will deliver the keynote speech at noon,” said Laurie Miller, associate dean of undergraduate programs. Russell has held leadership roles at Amazon Alexa, IBM, Microsoft, and NPR, and was recently named a Top 50 Global Thought Leader in Generative AI.
The conference will begin with a session on "The Current State of Emerging Technology" by Brian Ardinger, director of innovation at Nelnet. Panel discussions will cover topics such as navigating risks in emerging technology, AI alignment challenges, and future technology trends.
A student bootcamp from 1:45 to 4:45 p.m. will allow participants to complete the first module of IBM’s AI Engineering Professional Certificate in Machine Learning with Python, led by engineering doctoral students.
