Farm Credit Mid-America Invests $4.5M in Agriculture

By Jamie Martin

Farm Credit Mid-America has unveiled its 2024 Impact Report, showcasing the cooperative’s ongoing efforts to support rural communities and agriculture.

The report outlines how the customer-owned cooperative reinvests in the people and regions it serves, with nearly $4.5 million allocated to meaningful programs and initiatives throughout the year.

“We’re proud to share the stories and statistics that represent our unwavering commitment to rural communities and the future of agriculture,” said Heather Vidourek, chief administrative officer at Farm Credit Mid-America. “This report is a testament to our purpose in action and the strong relationships we build and nurture with our customer-owners.”

Among the report's key highlights is the investment of nearly $4.5 million into agriculture and rural development. Of this, $1.7 million supported youth programs, college students, and young and beginning farmers.

Additionally, $2.7 million went toward programs that bolster agriculture and rural communities, including $1 million specifically for community-based efforts.

The organization also made 450 loans totaling $87 million to young and beginning farmers through its Growing Forward program. These funds are helping the next generation of agricultural leaders build their futures and enabling established farmers to implement sustainable practices.

The Impact Report features real-life customer stories that demonstrate how the cooperative supports farmers at every stage of their journey.

"Farm Credit Mid-America is dedicated to meeting customers where they are and supporting them on their journeys whether they’re just getting started or preparing to pass the farm to the next generation,” Vidourek added. “Through our work and community investments, we aim to empower farmers, strengthen rural communities and help secure a sustainable future for agriculture."
