The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is inviting farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers to take part in the 2025 county committee elections. The nomination process is now open, and the deadline to submit forms is August 1, 2025.
These elections are a key part of how the USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) ensures local input on federal farm programs. Farmers can find their Local Administrative Area (LAA) using the GIS locator tool at fsa.usda.gov/elections.
County committee members play a crucial role in making decisions on disaster programs, conservation efforts, commodity support, and local employment within FSA offices. Committees consist of three to eleven members who serve three-year terms.
Producers who participate or cooperate in USDA programs and live in the LAA up for election can be nominated. A cooperating producer is one who has shared information with FSA, even if they have not applied for benefits.
Nominations are open to all, including self-nominations and nominations by organizations. The USDA strongly encourages minority producers, women, and beginning farmers or ranchers to get involved in the election process.
Nationwide, over 7,700 dedicated community members serve on these committees, helping to deliver programs that impact local agriculture.
