Husker Athletics is going green, with a little help from the Nebraska Soybean Board (NSB). As the college sports season rolls out, three Husker buses are now proudly sporting the message: “Team Bus Powered by Biodiesel.” But it doesn't stop there. Arrow Stage Lines, responsible for transporting Husker teams, has announced that every bus they operate in Nebraska will run on B20 biodiesel blends.
Andy Chvatal, the NSB's executive director, believes that using biodiesel aligns with the university's sustainability goals. Beyond promoting local produce, biodiesel plays a pivotal role in Nebraska's agricultural backbone.
It offers economic stability to farmers, impacting soybean prices positively. In 2022, biodiesel added an equivalent of $1.78 per bushel to soybean prices. Plus, it makes soybean meal, vital for livestock feed, more affordable.
Brandon Meier, from the Nebraska Athletic Department, expresses gratitude to the NSB for their unwavering support. He proudly mentions the new bus designs and emphasizes the importance of agriculture to Nebraska.
As the Husker athletes travel this year, they will not only be showcasing their sports talent but also the promise of clean and sustainable biodiesel for the nation.
