These awards honor individuals and organizations for their strong contributions to agriculture, education, and industry development.

The awards highlight efforts that support research, teaching, and outreach in key areas such as agribusiness, agricultural production, rural development, natural resources, and international trade. The recognition reflects the department’s commitment to improving agriculture and supporting farming communities.

Mike Miller receives the Outstanding Alumni Award for leadership in the agribusiness sector. He serves as Vice President of Trading and Risk Management at Ardent Mills. With more than 35 years of experience, he leads wheat pricing strategies and risk management efforts. Alejandro Plastina also received the Outstanding Alumni Award. He focuses on farm finance, policy, conservation, and risk management. His research includes major projects supported by the USDA and partnerships with universities. He has earned several national awards for his work in agricultural economics and extension programs.

Nebraska Farmer magazine receives the Outstanding Service Award. Founded in 1859 by Robert Furnas, the publication is one of the oldest agricultural magazines in the United States. It continues to support farmers by sharing useful information on improving farm productivity, managing natural resources, and strengthening rural life.
