The 2024 Women in Agriculture Conference, themed “Sowing Seeds for Generations,” is scheduled for August 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 1040 Jackson Street in Sidney.
Carmen Draper, the event organizer, expresses excitement about this year's conference, anticipating another enriching experience for attendees. “Past years have been very successful, and we are excited to offer another great conference,” said Draper.
Keynote speaker Kaelyn Armstrong, a registered nurse and small business owner from Ogallala, Nebraska, will present “Saved By The Well,” sharing insights on holistic approaches to health and well-being.
The conference will cover a variety of topics relevant to modern agriculture:
- Backyard Ag: Jami Theone, a USDA NRCS Conservationist, will discuss her experiences with diverse agricultural practices.
- Pollinator Habitat on Farms, Ranches, and in our Communities: Rae Powers, an NRCS Partner Biologist, will talk about the role of beneficial insects in agriculture.
- Just Breathe: Kristen Rose, a licensed counselor, will explore the connection between self-regulation and intentional living.
- What Happens in a Small Town: Kim Preston will highlight resources available for fostering resilient communities.
- The Odyssey of the Oviduct: T. L. Meyer will provide a hands-on learning experience about animal husbandry starting at 3:15 p.m.

The Nebraska Women in Agriculture program, in collaboration with the University of Nebraska Extension Women in Agriculture, offers educational and leadership opportunities to empower Nebraska women in agriculture, fostering the development of management skills for success in the agricultural sector.
