The Nebraska Farm Bureau welcomes recent trade announcements involving Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines. These agreements are seen as important actions to expand global markets and reduce trade barriers for U.S. agricultural products.
In a statement, the Bureau emphasized the vital role trade plays in supporting the national economy and the sustainability of Nebraska’s farm and ranch communities.
“I’ve had the opportunity to promote Nebraska products in each of these countries on past trade missions and know firsthand they are strong trading partners. Each of these countries considers U.S. agricultural products to be of high quality and are eager to purchase from us if agreements can be established,” the statement reads.
The Bureau especially highlights Indonesia’s $4.5 billion commitment to purchase soybeans, wheat, and cotton as a major win for Nebraska producers. With harvest season quickly approaching, swift implementation of these agreements is encouraged to allow agricultural products to move from field to market without delay.
“These announcements couldn’t come at a better time, particularly Indonesia’s $4.5 billion commitment to purchase soybeans, wheat, and cotton. With harvest season quickly approaching and products moving from field to market, we urge swift implementation of these agreements to ensure Nebraska farmers can take full advantage of the new opportunities.”
The Nebraska Farm Bureau is a statewide grassroots organization with over 56,000 member families. It focuses on supporting Nebraska’s agricultural economy through education, advocacy, and service to farm and ranch families.
The Bureau works to ensure both rural and urban prosperity across the state, with agriculture at the heart of Nebraska’s economic success.
