The Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) is leading the charge in connecting the community with the agricultural sector. As urban areas expand and fewer people have direct connections to farming, the NCB's mission to educate the public about the importance of agriculture has never been more essential.
One of the NCB's flagship programs, Nebraska Common Ground, is a joint effort with the Nebraska Soybean Board. It features farm women engaging consumers in meaningful conversations about food production.
Through personal stories and scientific facts, these women clarify farming practices and correct widespread myths, helping people understand the journey of food from farm to table.
Beyond traditional educational settings, the NCB innovates with the Ag Sack Lunch Program for fourth graders. This initiative enriches field trips with agricultural lessons, emphasizing Nebraska's rich farming products.
The NCB sponsored a unique baseball game night, renaming the local team to Corn Chasers for the event. This fun twist on sports entertainment served as another platform to spotlight the significance of agriculture in everyday life.
Jay Reiners, the chairman of the Nebraska Corn Board, also advocates for the environmental and economic benefits of ethanol as a fuel.
By utilizing ethanol, Nebraskans support local agriculture while contributing to a healthier environment. His vision extends to a future where all residents recognize and value the agricultural foundations of their community.
Through programs like Nebraska Common Ground and the Ag Sack Lunch Program, the NCB is making significant strides towards fostering a well-informed society that values the agricultural roots of their food and community.
Their efforts aim to increase appreciation for Nebraska's farmers and secure the future of farming for the next generations.
