Nebraska Extension's commitment to agriculture has caught the national spotlight. Recently, the National Association of County Agricultural Agents honored the institution with four significant awards, showcasing its efforts in the ag sector.
"Know Your Numbers, Know Your Options" program, led by educators Jessica Groskopf and Glennis McClure, has won the National Search for Excellence in Farm and Ranch Business Management award. The online platform, which has guided over 137 participants since June 2020, significantly impacts farm financial management.
Kelly Feehan, a dedicated Extension educator from Columbus, earned the Distinguished Service Award. Her impressive track record in community greenspace, focusing on water conservation and pest management, has made a tangible difference in Nebraska.
Larry Howard, an esteemed emeritus Extension educator, entered the North Central Region Hall of Fame. His work in livestock sectors, like beef and swine, has stamped a significant mark on Nebraska, especially in Cuming County. There, his initiatives played a role in a record-breaking market value, surpassing $1 billion in agricultural products.
Sarah Sivits received the National Association of County Agricultural Agents Achievement Award for her pest management and groundwater issues programs, benefiting the agricultural community.
Nebraska Extension dean and director Charles Stoltenow expressed pride in their achievements, stating their unparalleled understanding of Nebraskans and the awards solidifying this sentiment.
