Nebraska Sustainable Farming Conference Set

Nebraska Sustainable Farming Conference Set

By Scout Nelson

The Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society announces that registration is now open for the 2026 Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society Annual Conference. The event will take place January 30 and 31, 2026, at the Divots Conference Center in Norfolk, Nebraska.

The conference is organized in partnership with the Nebraska Regional Food Systems Initiative. It is designed to support a wide audience interested in advancing sustainable and conservation focused agriculture.

The event welcomes producers, agricultural educators, researchers, extension professionals, nonprofit leaders, and community organizers. Special attention is given to beginning and underserved producers, as well as those transitioning to regenerative farming practices.

The annual conference has been a long-standing educational event in Nebraska since 1976. For nearly five decades, it has served as a place to connect, learn, and exchange ideas that strengthen farming systems and rural communities across the state.

“This year’s conference is more critical than ever, especially as Nebraska and the nation grapple with a rapidly evolving agricultural economy and increasing consumer demand for more transparent food systems,” said Ben Jewell, a Rural Prosperity Nebraska Extension educator and team lead for NERFSI.

“It provides a crucial forum for farmers, researchers and advocates to exchange practical knowledge, strengthen their networks and share best practices for the industry. The collective impact of implementing these strategies — from improving soil health to increasing local food access — will be vital for the future of our rural economies and the health of our communities.”

The conference will feature more than 30 educational sessions covering a wide range of topics. These include farm financial and transition planning, field crops, livestock management, urban agriculture, farm and food policy, and local food access.

Keynote presentations will highlight regenerative agriculture and the connection between soil health and human health. The event will also offer several networking opportunities, including an exhibit hall, a reception, and a fundraising event.

The cost to attend is $85 per day or $160 for both days. Registration includes meals and access to all sessions. Scholarships are available. Registration closes January 15, 2026, and details are available on the conference website.
