The University of Nebraska-Lincoln livestock judging team has started its fall season with impressive results across several national competitions, showcasing dedication, teamwork, and skill in livestock evaluation.
At the Flint Hills Mid-America National Classic, the Nebraska team finished as the second highest team overall, earning recognition among top collegiate teams in the country. Their strong performance included second high team finishes in cattle and swine divisions, along with third high team honors in reasons and sheep/goats.
Individual success also contributed to the team’s achievements. Maleah Crisp led the way as 6th overall individual, with Caden Schwab and Kirsten Heselmeyer placing 10th and 14th overall, respectively. Crisp also continued her strong performance with 16th place finishes at both the Tulsa State Fair and Aksarben Stock Show.
At Aksarben, the team ranked 7th high overall, while Schwab stood out at the Tulsa State Fair, earning 1st place in swine judging. The Flint Hills event further showcased the team’s consistency and strength across all categories, reflecting the university’s strong livestock judging program and commitment to agricultural excellence.
The Nebraska team continues to build momentum as it heads to its next major competition, the American Royal in Kansas City, Kansas, on October 20. The event will bring together some of the best collegiate livestock judging teams in the nation, providing another opportunity for Nebraska’s talented students to compete and learn.
Through these competitions, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln livestock judging team continues to represent the state with pride, promoting agricultural education and leadership through excellence in livestock evaluation.
