The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) is promoting agricultural excellence through its annual poster contest, open to all Nebraska students in grades one through six. The contest, focusing on 'Nebraska Agriculture: Ready, Set, Grow', combines creativity and learning, with submissions due March 1, 2024.
NDA Director Sherry Vinton emphasizes the significance of agricultural education and engagement, seeing the poster contest as a crucial link between young minds and the agricultural world.
Students are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild, portraying their interpretation of Nebraska's diverse agricultural scene, from thriving livestock to bountiful crops.
The contest, a highlight during the National Agriculture Week from March 17-23, 2024, is not just a celebration of creativity but also a tribute to Nebraska's leading industry.
The week-long event puts the spotlight on the agricultural sector's role in providing essential resources like food, fuel, and fiber. Winning artworks will gain a place of honor on NDA’s website and in various promotional materials.
Categorized into three age groups for fairness in judging, the contest is inclusive of students from public, private, or home schools across Nebraska. The emphasis is on originality, with all artworks being exclusively student-created. Entries must be submitted to NDA by the deadline.
Full contest details, including rules and entry forms, are available at nda.nebraska.gov/kids.
“NDA’s poster contest reminds all Nebraskans that agriculture positively impacts all of us, from the food we eat, to the fuel for our cars, to the clothes we wear,” said Vinton. “Last year, we received a record 2,000+ entries in our annual poster contest, and we’re hoping for even more this year.”
