Nebraska Extension and Nebraska Sorghum, the organizations leading the 2026 Nebraska Sorghum Field Day, will bring together producers and agribusiness professionals on Sept. 9 near Indianola, Nebraska, to explore the latest advances in sorghum production and on-farm research.
Hosted by local producer Tracy Zink, the event will feature tours of 22 milo varieties, giving attendees an opportunity to compare performance under Nebraska growing conditions. Participants will also observe research trials examining plant population and row spacing practices that can influence crop productivity and management outcomes.
The program will include presentations from Nicolás Cafaro la Menza, a Nebraska Extension specialist, who will provide updates on sorghum research projects across the state. Lucas Haag, associate professor of agronomy at Kansas State University, will share additional insights on regional sorghum production trends and challenges.
Following the field tours and research updates, attendees will have an opportunity to network with fellow producers, researchers, and industry representatives while discussing practical strategies for improving sorghum production. A meal will be provided after the program.

Location: Road 398, Bartley, NE 69020 (near Indianola)
Directions: From Indianola, travel approximately 1.5 miles east, turn north onto Road 398, and continue another 1.5 miles. The field site will be located on the west side of the road.
Registration: Registration is required for meal planning purposes.
