New director for rural affairs farm

By Scout Nelson

Bobbi Howard has recently been appointed as the Farm and Community director for the Center for Rural Affairs. She will be serving the regions of Nebraska and southwest Iowa.

Howard’s professional background is rooted in workforce development, having supervised field offices across Nebraska as an administrator at the Department of Labor. Her experience also extends to working with nonprofit organizations.

Sandra Renner, the chief people officer at the Center, believes that Howard’s diverse experience makes her an ideal candidate to lead the Farm and Community team. Howard shares the Center’s commitment to rural people, resource accessibility, and equity.

She brings valuable insights about workforce needs, the skills people need to achieve their goals, and the challenges rural people face in accessing and understanding available resources.

Howard plans to visit rural communities to witness firsthand the efforts the Center is making. She emphasizes the importance of supporting rural America for a robust economy.

The Center works to ensure communities have the necessary schools, resources, infrastructure, and an environment that attracts young families to keep these towns thriving.

Howard is excited to contribute to this work and expand the focus as needed to maximize impact. She will be based out of the Center’s main office in Lyons.
