The week ending June 23, 2024, proved to be productive for Nebraska’s farmers with 5.2 days suitable for fieldwork. The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service reported that topsoil moisture supplies were largely adequate with 66%, while subsoil moisture supplies were also predominantly adequate at 67%.
Corn condition was favorable with 53% good and 29% excellent, and soybeans showed 56% good and 23% excellent. Soybeans were 95% emerged, near last year's pace, with 5% blooming.
Winter wheat conditions were mixed, with 50% good and 19% excellent, and 2% harvested. Sorghum was 73% good and 11% excellent, with 3% headed.
Oats were in good shape with 58% good and 21% excellent, and 84% headed. Dry edible beans showed 69% good and 10% excellent, with 72% emerged. Pasture and range conditions were mostly good at 57%, with 14% rated as excellent, providing a positive outlook for Nebraska’s livestock industry.
